Spot lights are fixture created with the sole purpose of show casing the important landscape features of one’s outdoor environment. Every spotlight is designed for easy installation and adjustment. So therefore if outdoor lighting is painting with light, then spotlights are the brushes.
Spotlights originated in the theatre world. They were lights used to showcase the main actors; to highlight their characters to the world to see. In the same light, spotlights are used for emphasis, they are to call attention to specific architectural or landscape features.
Spotlights have narrower beams in order to be able to focus on one thing at a time, since the intention of lighting up ones house is not flood it with light, spotlights selectively apply visual accents to any area they are installed to cover.
One of the main aims of spotlight lighting is to reveal the shape of the home or office space’s structure even under an extremely dark sky. This can only be accomplished when upper parts of the building are illuminated alongside lower parts.
There are several reasons to light up trees on your property. Since trees are impressive features of your landscape and often serve to define the extent of your property both horizontally and vertically; spotlights would do a great job in highlighting its edge in your home.
While we almost always love lights, we hate them when they shine directly in our eyes, we would not want to drive past and have something bright beaming directly into ours eyes at night, so one should be careful enough to place your spotlights at a 60 degree slice angle, in order not to interfere with the eyes.
When selecting a spotlight with an LED source, you can choose “Integrated” with LED’s already built into the light or you can go for “Lamp-Ready” a fixture with a socket ready to receive an LED bulb.
Again, light from above is the most natural but if that is not possible, then position spotlights from angles that highlight the feature without shining light in the eyes of viewers. Using underwater lights in ponds and waterfalls act as options. The best places to install spotlights as an exterior asset to your home, office or community space are; office exteriors, garden spaces, church exteriors, home exteriors, concerts and the likes.
